Todays walk: Hungerford Common and then along the canal towards Kintbury and then back via the country lanes. This walk is at a moderately faster pace.
Notes: Park at the car park next to the Downgate pub. Parking free for up to 4 hours. If this car park is full there is further free parking on other side of the common - meet at the Downgate car park to start the walk.
Nordic Walking is an enhancement of ordinary walking – it makes something we can all do… twice as effective! Nordic Walking uses poles to in order to add two major benefits to walking.The use of poles means the upper body muscles are used as well as the legs The poles help to propel the walker along – this means he/she works harder than usual yet the support given by the poles makes it feel easier!
Nordic Walking is a specific fitness technique and is not to be confused with trekking, hill walking or trail running as the poles are not planted in front of the walker/runner but in a specific way that increases the use of the upper body. It can be done by anybody, anywhere and does not require expensive equipment or clothing.
Note: To participate in regular Nordic WALX, you must have completed our Nordic Freedom Course.
Covid 19 guidelines
You must re-visit your PARQ and answer all questions including decalrations on COVID 19.Please do not attend a walk if you have any symptoms and inform me if you develope symptoms within 72 hours of attending a walk.
Please bring your own equipement or if you need to borrow poles you will be provided with Activator strapless poles which are much easier to clean.
All activities will respect social distancing guidelines of 1 metre plus apart.
You can wear a mask if you would prefer to but this is not mandatory.
