Walk Description:

Have you received your Freedom Passport and want to get out with your poles? Welcome to the Nordic Strut! An activity dedicated to pole walkers. Meet like-minded people for a friendly, uplifting session around Knighton Park.

This session is suitable for people using both strapped and strapless poles. If you don't yet have your own poles, please enquire whether loan poles are available before booking.

Meet: Everards Meadows Car Park (off Soar Valley Way or B4114 Narborough Road South). Free Parking for up to 3 hours. Number plate recognition on entry. In the event of flooding, the venue for this walk will be changed. You will be notified in advance if this happens.

Pace: Steady, to suit the group.

This activity is exclusively for those who have been trained to walk using Nordic Poles it is not suitable for non-pole walkers.

Terrain: This is a mixed terrain venue with paths of various different composition as well as undefined walkways across meadows. The towpath and some paths through Glen Parva Local Nature Reserve/Aylestone Holt Spinney could get muddy. The route may occasionally cross a stile.

Refreshments and toilets are available at Jenno's Coffee House. Please remember your mask if entering the Coffee House and adhere to their requirement for NHS Track and Trace.

Elevation: Negligible inclines.

Clothing: Please come prepared for the weather on the day. We recommend you wear layers to keep you warm. Avoid wearing jeans as these are cold if they get wet, and can chafe. A waterproof outer layer is preferred in wet weather. Trainers or boots with a good grip are the best footwear. The grass may be wet and the paths muddy. Pumps, wellies and slip-on shoes are not suitable.

When joining us we ask you to read and agree to these safety measures:
