Walk Description:
This walk, tucked away among limestone hills on the county border, initially descends to the Dove down a track to Coldeaton Bridge along the River dove to the picturesque Milldale. After a riverside wander the ascent up Hall-Dale offers a reward in early spring – a fabulous storm of snowdrops around Stanshope. The end of the walk follows a roller-coaster ancient path with scenic views.
Terrain: Moderately strenuous walk. Woodland paths with trip hazards and slippery areas of exposed stone. Close proximity to river with areas prone to mud. Roadway without pavement. Livestock may be grazing. One steep descent and ascent.
Toilets: Public toilets at Alstonfield and Milldale.
Refreshments: Bring your own snacks and drinks or Polly's cottage Take away for a cuppa in Milldale. (if open)
