Walk Description:

 Hele Bay and Chambercombe Manor, smugglers and wreckers;

Walk in the footsteps of smugglers and wreckers of days gone by!Park in the car park at Hele Bay and we will meet overlooking the beach near the public loos.We will warm up on the beach overlooking the site of an old silver kiln, then follow the wreckers inland route ,follow the tunnel like stream inland passing the old Mill and onto a footpath along the valley side. We cross the stream at the far end of the existing Chambercombe estate then follow the lane on the East side of the valley passing beside the manor house. We'll use an old bridlepath along Chambercombe lane, to exit the valley then cross the main road and climb onto Hillsborough from where we'll follow the Coastpath enjoying unrivalled and spectacular views along this rugged smugglers coastline West to Ilfracombe and Lee and East towards Heddons mouth and Lynmouth with a perfect view into Samsons bay with its smugglers caves! The coast path leads us back down to Hele bay where we'll do our cool down stretches and you are welcome to enjoy a socially distanced BYO picnic. I believe the cafe on the beach will also be open serving drinks and food.
