WEDNESDAY'S MODERATE NORDIC ADVENTURE with WALX IN THE FOREST
Tall trees and tranquil trails.
This week we go a bit off the beaten track, starting at High Corner, up around Hasley Inclosure, through Sloden Inclosure seeing the ancient yews and massive oaks at the ancient Churchyard site then back through Holly Hatch to return to the car park.
The official footpath does go through the edge of a bog at the beginning so there will be a bit of "soft ground" but usually not too bad!
Please look for the sign to the High Corner Inn.
The sat nav and also what3words do not like this location so please head for the High Corner Inn. It is about 2 miles past the Red Shoot. Take the turning for the High Corner Inn and the car park is on the left. Do not go as far as the pub.
Please do not use the postcode to find locations in the New Forest. They often take you to the wrong place as they cover groups of houses.
The walks are not suitable for those starting out on their fitness journey or who require regular breaks.
Please contact Janet if you need more information as to whether this walk is for you.
PLEASE NOTE:There may be some gates but no stiles. There is a very real possibility of encountering grazing livestock such as ponies, cows and donkeys. At this time of year we may encounter pigs too as pannage season will have started. The very nature of the New Forest terrain means that springs pop up in unexpected places after heavy rain so please make sure you wear waterproof footwear (no wellies)! Dogs are welcome but Fido may need to be on a lead some of the time. Please make sure you have filled out a dog disclaimer form from Janet before bringing your pooch.
