Walk Description:

One of Lauren's favourites!  We will meet at Stourpaine Village Playing Fields car park, located at the end of 'Havelins,' there is no charge.  We begin the walk through the village, along a stream and straight up Hod Hill.  This is the first of TWO hills on this walk, with an elevation of 100m.  We then continue up on to the top of Hod Hill but more gradually, for another 30m of elevation.  We will be rewared with fabulous views!  Next we walk across the top and around the rings before descending down the other side of the hill.  This means we are then ready to climb our SECOND hill; Hambledon Hill.  This hill is shorter, but steeper than the first!  Everyone can take this hill at their own pace, we climb an elevation of approximately 120m.  Once on the top we again have wonderful views of the surrounding area!  Time will be taken to continue walking across the top and around the edge of the hill to see the ridge formations and enjoy the views from all sides.  Here we will have our picnic lunch - so please bring something to eat and something to sit on.  We then head down between both hills and around the side of Hod Hill through fields, to return to Stourpaine.  This route can be windy at the top and muddy in places after rain so please be prepared for this.  Although this walk does have TWO HILLS and is undulating in places, it is VERY rewarding and there is lots on the flat too; it is a lovely area to explore.  Note: there are no toilets on this walk.  The pub in the village is very nice, for anyone who fancies a New Year refreshment after the walk!
