Walk Description:

This course is for walkers who have attended the Power of Poles 1 Introduction, and achieved their freedom passport.

Firstly, you have the opportunity to refine the core moves and iron out any faults or niggles which may have crept in. We will check the basics of using gears 1 & 2 then we will move on to mastering Nordic Walking straps and developing a faster pace in gears 3 & 4 and double poling. We'll also show you some fun techniques to up your fitness!

Followed by a FREE pole clinic to help you chose which poles are right for you.

Meet: Everards Meadows Car Park (off Soar Valley Way or B4114 Narborough Road South). Free Parking for up to 3 hours. Number plate recognition on entry. 

Pace: Steady, to suit the group, but expect to try activities which are intended to build fitness and increase energy expenditure (all activities are optional). Walking poles are provided for you to use on this training course.

Terrain: This is a mixed terrain venue with paths of various different composition as well as undefined walkways across meadows. The towpath and some paths through Glen Parva Local Nature Reserve/Aylestone Holt Spinney could get muddy. The route may occasionally cross a stile.

Elevation: Negligible inclines.

The course will take place on grassed fields and public footpaths/tracks. Wear sturdy trainers or boots (the grass can be slippery if wet), and clothing suitable for the weather conditions.

Refreshments and toilets are available at Jenno's Coffee House. Please remember to comply with any current Government guidance regarding social distancing and adhere to any requirement for mask wearing and NHS Track and Trace.

We aim to be respectful towards members of the public and reassure them of our safe practices. All equipment will be supplied and has been sanitised and quarantined according to Covid-19 recommendations. Please bring a small backpack or bum bag with water and a snack if required. Participants are required to register and complete an online health questionnaire in advance. If you feel unwell between booking and joining the class, we ask you to err on the side of caution and cancel your booking. You will be re-credited, and can rebook for a future date or a refund can be issued.
