Walk Description:

Learn how to walk with poles, (Nordic Walking).

Please note this class may be held at Peter May Sports Centre, if there is sufficient demand.

This 90 minute session will introduce you to Nordic Walking using poles with ledges or straps. The session will include:

Introduction to poles with ledges and straps Warm up (moblity) exercises Using  both types of poles to walk more easily and improve fitness Cool down stretches

The group is limited to six places, so there will be lots of opportunities to ask questions and get to know your fellow participants. You should allow up to 90 minutes for this session, depending on the number of participants.

At the end of the session you will be able to compare the differences between the two types of poles, so that you know which are best for you.

On completion of the session, you will gain your Freedom Passport, that enables you to join all suitable Nordic Walking UK walks and classes.

Depending on the time of year, bring sunscreen, water, a hat, gloves and a waterproof coat. There will be a short break during the session and you are advised to bring a snack and a drink. 

Priority is given to residents of Waltham Forest who are members of U3A.

Poles are provided.
