Walk Description:

The Jubilee Way was opened in 1977, to mark the Queen's Silver Jubilee. In Leicestershire, this 20 mile walk starts at Burrough Hill Country Park, and ends just beyond Woolsthorpe by Belvoir, just over the border in Lincolnshire. Join us to celebrate Her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee by walking some or all of the path over the course of the 4 day Bank Holiday weekend. Each day will incorporate a circular or "out and back" walk for those who wish to challenge themselves over a longer mileage, or an easier "one way" route for those who are less adventurous. The full circle walkers will meet the one way walkers at the half way point, and we will complete the walk together. Arrangements will be made to return the one way walkers to their cars.

Day 4 One Way: Stathern - Woolsthorpe-by-Belvoir

Meet: Park along Main Street/Harby Lane and meet outside The Plough (LE14 4HW). Please be aware that this is a residential area, and park with consideration for the residents and other road users.

Pace: Steady, to suit the group. This walk is open to anyone who wishes to join, but if you would like use Nordic Walking poles, we ask that you have a valid Freedom Passport.

Terrain: This section of the walk will almost exclusively follow footpaths across farmland and through woodland. The grass can be wet and the paths can get muddy if it has rained in the lead up to the weekend. Stout walking shoes or boots will be required for this activity. We suggest carrying blister plasters and spare socks in case of emergency. Please wear clothing appropriate for the weather conditions and carry a waterproof in case. Sunscreen and a hat should also be available.

Elevation: Much of this walk skirts around the Belvoir escarpment and over takes place over undulating countryside. We will initially climb from the village up the hill but don't anticipate too many steep inclines.

Refreshments: You are welcome to join the Full Circle Walkers while they consume their packed lunch before we set off on the second leg of their walk. Otherwise, please bring any drinks (especially water) and snacks you require for the duration of this walk. There are few facilities along the route, so carry enough supplies for full activity.

When joining us we ask you to read and agree to these safety measures:

We aim to be respectful towards members of the public and reassure them of our safe practices. Please bring a small backpack or bum bag with food, water and sunscreen. Participants are required to register and complete an online health questionnaire in advance. If you feel unwell between booking and joining the class, we ask you to err on the side of caution and cancel your booking. You will be re-credited, and can rebook for a future date or a refund can be issued.

If you have any questions, please use the contact details to get in touch.

Please note: due to time constraints, this walk has only been partially recce'd and risk assessed. Please be advised that there is an element of personal risk to be accepted if joining us for this activity.
