Walk Description:

This is a 6 mile circular walk starting from the free parking area by the Walled Garden, there is further parking roadside.

The walking is mainly easy but with a couple of inclines and two stiles.

Some parts are quite exposed and so we need to be prepared for the weather of the day. It is all very dry at the moment but some areas could be muddy after rainfall. We cross the Ford over the bridge and encounter forest tracks, woodland paths (plenty of tree roots), heathland and farmland. There is a short section on the road near to Clouds Hill but there is a grass verge to walk on. We pass where the tanks can sometimes be seen practicing and walk along a small section of the Lawrence Trail. There is a stone memorial near to the site of Lawrence’s motorbike accident. Lawrence is buried in Moreton Cemetery and an effigy of him is in St Martin’s Church, Wareham.

There are refreshments and toilet facilities at the café. The nearest public toilets are at Wool Railway Station. Sturdy shoes and protection from whatever the weather may be, sun or rain or anything in-between. We’ll take the walk at anyone’s pace with regular fluid stops as required.
