Well done to NWUK Member Robert Kletz who has just WON the £50 Cotswold outdoor voucher thanks to telling us What being active outdoors means to him
Our independent Judge loved this account because it shows how our walkers can enjoy walks with a variety of groups, attend festivals, try new activities and sometimes even go cycling instead! However, as Robert outlines….there’s nothing quite like being with your local group!
Here are his winning words!
Always a keen walker and cyclist, I took up Nordic Walking three years ago. I enjoy the variety offered by my local instructor and I have occasionally gone out with other instructors when visiting their ‘patches’. Memorable events have been:
- Two Purbeck festivals (the first was my learn-to; the second was a wonderful choice of walks and other options).
- Trip to Chamonix with Derwent & Dales: this was spectacular in the extreme; 200 words are insufficient to extol this trip.
- Nordic skiing: it would never have occurred to me to try this, were it not for the walking; Seefeld is rather limited for Alpine skiing but is superb for Langlauf; again the first trip was to learn then we returned to sample its delights properly; hopefully we can go back next winter.
With no NW lessons during lockdown I went solo cycling most days. I enjoyed that so much, particularly with the lack of traffic, that I did not initially bother resuming walking when lessons returned. More recently, though, traffic levels have become so bad again, that I am cutting down on the cycling and I have returned to the NW fold. It is good to be back!
Thanks Robert – your voucher is on the way!
