The Purbeck WALX Festival is a safe outdoor celebration of everything to do with walking and healthy living!
Set in the stunning Jurassic coastal landscape of ancient Dorset there are dozens of lead walks for all levels (with poles and without) over 3 days PLUS stalls , presentations, experiences and workshops with leading professionals
There’s something for everyone – professional workshops for Physiotherapists, Instructors and those interested in the use of poles for walking, rehabilitation and wellbeing plus skills workshops for walkers like navigation and Nordic walking techniques.
Walks include, wildlife watching, brewery trips and world war two history themes to name but a few! The ever popular cream teas walks to iconic location likes Old Harry Rocks will still be on the schedule but this year we have been walking hard to tread off the beaten tracks even more and our ROUTES MASTER Rob (pictured) and his assistant Angela have been tracking, risk assessing and training leaders in order to provide the BEST walking experience EVER! Prepare to be amazed at the variety and views we have in store for you.
The Festival HUB is situated on a stunning field beside the iconic Corfe Castle which also provides easy access to whole of Purbeck via bus and steam train for an Eco friendly festival experience. We have teamed up with a host of local companies who are looking forward to providing accommodation, food and a proper Dorset welcome to walkers of all ages.
To access all of the activities, it’s best to have a day ticket but it will be possible to join us for presentations, the music event and workshops separately too (more on that later when the schedule is released)
Finally, its not all sociable walks, hostelries and stunning landscapes – we do have have two distance CHALLENGE Events too – so if you fancy tackling 16 or 27 miles of stunning Jurassic coast terrain why not enter? These fully managed distance challenges are organised by our Partners who also operate a VIRTUAL challenge on the same day for those who are not able to join us.
We also have a Challenge training group to help you get into the best walking shape so join them now for support advice and a weekly Q and A with Challenge Coach Matt Gibbs a previous winner of the event. We are delighted that our sponsors are gearing up to pack the goodie bags with things you will love and set up stalls where you can get advice on shoes, kit and so much more.
We must not forget the lovely local food stalls too who will be on hand to provide everything from local ice cream to a delicious hog roast.
