🌿 Introducing WALX Avon & Amble: Stratford’s New Walking & Wellbeing Community

There’s something special about walking in Stratford‑upon‑Avon — the gentle curve of the River Avon, the open skies over the Recreation Ground, the rolling edges of the Cotswolds just a short drive away. For many of us, walking isn’t just exercise; it’s connection, confidence, community, and a chance to breathe.

That’s why I’m excited to launch WALX Avon & Amble, a brand‑new walking group based right here in Stratford. Whether you’re looking to improve your fitness, meet new people, explore local green spaces, or simply enjoy a mindful hour outdoors, this group is designed for you.

🚶‍♀️ What is WALX Avon & Amble?

WALX Avon & Amble is part of the wider WALX community — a national movement focused on accessible fitness, outdoor wellbeing, and walking with purpose. Our Stratford group will offer a mix of:

  • Gentle wellbeing walks along the river and through local parks
  • Technique‑focused WALX sessions for those wanting to walk stronger and feel more confident
  • Mixed‑ability fitness walks using poles, pace changes, and simple functional exercises
  • Nature‑based sessions inspired by forest bathing, sensory awareness, and mindful movement
  • Community routes exploring Stratford’s footpaths, greenways, and hidden corners

Every session is friendly, welcoming, and adaptable — no one gets left behind.

🌳 Why join us?

Walking is one of the most powerful ways to improve physical and mental wellbeing. With WALX Avon & Amble, you’ll enjoy:

  • A supportive group atmosphere
  • Expert guidance from a qualified WALX and nature‑based wellbeing leader
  • Routes chosen for safety, accessibility, and scenery
  • Simple exercises to improve balance, mobility, and strength
  • Time in nature — proven to reduce stress and lift mood
  • A chance to reconnect with your local landscape

Whether you’re returning to fitness, managing a health condition, or simply want to feel better in your body, you’ll be welcomed exactly as you are.

📍 Where we walk

We’re lucky in Stratford — there’s no shortage of beautiful places to explore. Our regular meeting spots will include:

  • The Recreation Ground — perfect for gentle, accessible riverside walks
  • Stratford Greenway — ideal for technique sessions and steady‑pace fitness walks
  • Welcombe Hills — for those who enjoy nature, views, and a little more challenge
  • Bancroft Gardens — great for short wellbeing walks and warm‑ups
  • Stratford Nature Reserve — a wealth on nature right in the heart of Stratford

As the group grows, we’ll also venture into the Cotswolds National Landscape, exploring Ilmington Downs, Dover’s Hill, and other stunning local routes.

đź’š Who is it for?
