Positive Goals for 2022 – Kt Horsley-Page

First of all, we want to wish you a Happy New Year! We hope you had a lovely Christmas break amongst the dreary Omicron news.  With so much change and speculation going on in the world, the only thing you can control is you and your environment. Amongst the dark there is some light, and the best place to begin is with you and thinking about what you want to achieve for 2022, so we are starting this year with setting a goal to keep you positive.

When I think about the last couple of years for me, I have been trying to navigate a pandemic whilst either pregnant or recovering from pregnancy.  I saw some friends in 2019 pregnant with my first born, and when I look at my diary, the next time I will get to see these friends face to face (due to restrictions) I will be recovering from delivering my second child!  I have either been pregnant or dealing with complications from pregnancy for the last 3 years, so now it is time for me to think about what I need to do for myself.
My focus is my health, sleep (with little ones, yeah right!) and building up my strength again.  I will be giving myself time to exercise and focus on my nutrition to build on this.

I like to share this with you, in order to keep me on track with my New Year plan.  If you see me, please ask me how it is going to keep me accountable…  It’s the best way to keep someone motivated.

Now it’s your time to think about what you truly want to achieve this year for you.  Ignoring the news and negativity around us, what can you do for you, to make you feel positive and physically or mentally stronger.
When thinking about a positive goal, try focus on what you can add to your life rather than eliminate something.  For example, eat more greens, get more sleep, read more books, walk more.
Eliminating things you enjoy will only derail you, for example if I eliminate chocolate treats from my weekly allowance I won’t enjoy the experience of eating healthy and will probably end up eating more chocolate if I relapse than keeping it in moderation in the first place.

Stay positive with your goals and add to your life!

Once you decide, now tell a friend, or share it on here.  Have someone who will ask you how it is going to keep you focused.  A supportive friend.

We thought we would ask the team what their focus is this New Year and some have shared their ideas below. Be sure to ask our leaders how they are doing!  Let’s support each other.

If you are new to setting goals, take a look at our 2021 blog posts as we have some great articles about how to focus and set goals to keep you on track.  There is a lot of guidance for you to understand how to break down a goal and preparation.

Good luck! And we would love to hear what you want to add to your life this New Years.  Please add your comments on our Facebook page WAX Coast and Country Facebook

Take care and we look forward to seeing you all soon whether on a walk or in a virtual session!
