June Member of the Month: Ann Reed
This month, we celebrate the incredible Ann Reed as WALX Dorset’s Member of the Month!
Ann has been a dedicated part of our community since December 2020, offering unwavering support throughout the years. Even during challenging times, such as the COVID period and transitions between group leaders, Ann remained a steadfast presence, ensuring WALX Dorset continued to thrive.
She is a true long-distance walking enthusiast, having explored trails across the UK and Europe. Most recently, in May, Ann took on the Kerry Way in Ireland, covering more than 125 miles in just 10 days—a remarkable achievement!
To maintain the strength, stamina, and flexibility needed for her impressive walking adventures, Ann regularly joins in the Total Body Workouts at Durlston Country Park and Wareham Forest. Her commitment to fitness keeps her prepared for every challenge the trails throw her way. Ann enjoys exercising in a group setting as she says that when you are working out and having fun with others it disguises the hard work.
Beyond her own adventures, Ann is a generous supporter of the walking and running community in Swanage. She regularly volunteers as a marshal for the hilly Swanage Parkrun and plays a vital role in our 16-mile challenge walk at the festival, helping participants stay on course as a back marker.
Thank you, Ann, for your loyalty, dedication, and inspiration—you embody the very best of WALX Dorset!
