Did somebody just say snowdrops, mud, and good company?
On Sunday 16th February, 24 walkers joined WALX Leamington and Warwick on the Snowdrop Walk, a beautiful 9-mile circular route through the Warwickshire countryside. We set off from Marton (located between Leamington & Rugby) across the fields to the village of Leamington Hastings for their annual snowdrop display.
All Saints Church was open and we were welcomed with craft stalls, home-made cakes, soup, and hot drinks, with all donations going to the church. We then wandered round the village to enjoy looking at all the snowdrops before retracing our route back to Marton.
Even though the walk was at times very muddy and the sky grey for much of the time (we did see the sun trying to come out from behind the clouds occasionally) everyone seemed to enjoy their day out. Here’s what some of the walkers had to say:
“Fab walk, great company – and cake!”
“You don’t need to go far to find amazing countryside.”
“Great day, and the snowdrops were amazing!”
“Thank you for taking us on the snowdrop walk. Good to spend time with others. To live in the moment with amazing countryside, you don’t need to go far. Really enjoyed getting out too with spring just around the corner”
This was another successful Themed WALX led by Emma and Peter and they’re already planning the next one, which they do every month!
