Navigating our Way to New Heights

We’ve doubled the Team at Walx Preston throughout the lockdowns and I’m really excited to tell you in coming blog posts what we’ve been up to behind the scenes to create an even bigger impact on the health and wellbeing of the people of #Lancashire.

We’re still a small business locally, but throughout the last year we have rebranded from Nordic Walking Preston to Walx Preston, we have changed from an owner-operated small business into a national franchise model, we have increased our membership base and we have doubled our team of volunteers and professionals.

We could easily have been swept into the gutter by all the uncertainty and challenges we have faced as individuals and businesses throughout this Covid pandemic so how have we survived, even thrived?

It is very simple. We have an extremely bold vision to positively impact on the health and wellbeing of the 300,000+ residents of the wider Preston area. More so we have developed a team from within the ranks of our members who understand the value in the Community we have spent the last 6 years nurturing. By virtue of the way that we live and breathe our ethos of genuinely and passionately supporting other people develop their fitness, health, confidence and overall wellbeing we have attracted such a marvellous and diverse range of individuals into our membership base who are eager to support, motivate and inspire each other each and every day both online and offline.

This therefore becomes the self-fulfilling prophecy and why we work extremely hard to develop the systems and processes to allow the momentum to grow.

We may have started off as a one-man-band but now we are a team of almost 20. We have experienced wellbeing professionals, qualified mountain leaders, Walx Guides leading our weekly walks, and Walx Hosts ensuring new people feel safe and comfortable meeting our regulars. Everyone is benefitting.

What lies ahead?

Truthfully we don’t really know. We have aspirations to partner with more charities, businesses and organisations to share our expertise, experiences and community to co-create better outcomes in health and wellbeing.

We are fortunate that our time outdoors provides us with a great deal of capacity for creative thinking, lowered stress levels, and ability to navigate around the challenges and uncertainties that lie ahead.

What we can be sure of is that we will continue to put all our efforts into supporting others build their confidence, health and wellbeing and this will make us #strongertogether.

If you’d like to explore how we can help you as an individual, or a business, or a charity then our founder Matt is always available for a walk and talk.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

In the aftermath of the pandemic the “remedy” of social interaction whilst walking in the outdoors will be needed more than ever for those suffering with long-covid symptoms, those depressed, anxious or suicidal from everything that has gone on, or those physically broken from endless Zoom meetings at the kitchen table.

Walking and talking – who’d’ve thought !
