How do we at WALX differ from any other walking group out there? Especially those who are free?

This is a question we get asked a lot and are proud to answer!

THE RIGHT PEOPLE

We take time to select the right WALX MASTERS – they must have a great personality, passion for helping others and be committed enough to embark on our extensive training which covers everything from anatomy & physiology and the principles of fitness to how to inspire people to be more active outdoors.

 

THE RIGHT TRAINING

Studied over a 6 months to 1 year period, they build on their skills as they develop a programme of walks and a robust group. This includes free training for leaders who can help them create an exciting range of walks.

By the end of their training, they are able to deliver everything from Total body walking for fitness and wellness (with and without poles) and to inspire their walkers with themed walks, events and even holidays.

This enables them to help those who are new to walking or may find it tough due to fitness or medical issues. It also enables them to help people appreciate the power of walking as a daily exercise habit and how to keep progressing.

THE RIGHT TOOLS & SUPPORT

They are taught how to promote their walks using the WALX portal, APP and marketing tool kit plus use a range of business tools provided as part of the training. This includes a personalised website, social media profile, booking portal, client management system and the ability to take money outdoors.

Being part of a motivated network also helps WALX MASTERS develop their skills and add value to their walkers. They work as a team to create shared walks, festival events, holidays and even challenge walks to keep customers motivated – this also creates a feeling of belonging amongst the walkers who also help to inspire others to take part.

A VIBRANT COMMUNITY

The team at WALX HQ believe that the key to a successful exercise programme is to make it sociable, provide variety and ensure it works! Those who attend WALX sessions, notice how much better they feel and get huge social value from participating in something that’s affordable and accessible.

To help WALX MASTERS provide sessions at all times of the day, the HQ team deliver daily on-line workouts that are open to walkers from across the UK. From wake up stretches to pilates and strength/balance sessions, these add huge value to WALX Members and compliment their outdoor walks perfectly (at no extra cost if they pay their local group via Direct Debit)

Finally, WALX builds in a number of innovative ways to make customers feel valued – from membership benefits to a birthday voucher or automated message if they have not attended recently. Soon this will include rewards via the WALX smilage scheme too.

Best of all, we have created a fun community of like minded people who want to be active outdoors. We work together to provide weekly, affordable sessions locally but as a team to invite groups to meet up or enjoy trips and holiday.

Our unique weekend WALX festivals where WALXers can come together to explore new places, attend workshops, learn new skills and try new activities ( at all levels – not all as extreme as the one shown) and enjoy meeting others.

Regular WALXers also support their group by training as leaders or hosts. Some help with admin, others social media. The main thing is that everybody at WALX wants to spread the word that is is possible to gain results form walking and that exercise can be enjoyable!

In short, WALX provides everything a professional fitness club or leisure centre might offer its customers but empowers individuals to build this into a small lifestyle business that works for them and their customers.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the virtual classes I’ve been attending. A great extra to the walks!

I am a keen cyclist which gives me good aerobic fitness but I have lacked in flexibility and upperbody strength. I really enjoy the workout sessions as I can still exercise outdoors and get a great workout. It is as effective as going to the gym without the high fees and I get the benefits of doing it in the fresh air. Win win!
