WALX groups work with WALX HQ to support community groups and projects all over the UK. In Preston a local group called the Preston Muslim Forum wanted to train some of their members to be able to lead safe walks as way to encourage others to be more active.
Matt Gibbs from WALX Preston was approached to see if he could provide the training and support needed and as he is also a WALX Tutor he put together bespoke training to suit their needs and budget.
A brilliant day was had by all with the trainee leaders learning how to understand client health, prepare them for exercise and lead them on safe, suitable walks.
All passed their Walk leader training with flying colours and now Matt remains on hand to provide any upskill modules or train replacement leaders if needed.
Walkers from the Muslim Forum who are inspired by the new team will also be directed to the vast timetable of walks provided by WALX Preston.
