Walk Description:

Just over four mile walk with continuous views of Poole harbour, Brownsea Island, the Purbecks and Corfe Castle.

Upton heath is one of the largest remaining fragments of a heath which once stretched across central Southern England from Dorchester to Christchurch.

A level walk from the carpark then steeply down hill before following undulating trails to the bottom of the heath. In the main section wide gravel paths can be muddy/slippy after rain and good shoes needed.

We pass a lake then go to the furthest corner (this is quite near the road so briefly noisy) before begining the loop back.

Please note there are narrow steps to descend before a steep unhill path. Some of the paths in this area are quite narrow. It can also be muddy after rain. Bracken high in this area and some prickly gorse bushes.

We rejoin our original path to make our way steeply up hill.

There are cows on site.

Take away home made sausage rolls, coffee, and freshly baked cheesecake are available just up the road  from "Jim's Cheesecakes". No toilets. Parking available.

Toilets available at the other end of Corfe Mullen a 4 minute drive away behind the main Co Op supermarket.

Location Notes:

Free car park with plenty of spaces. No toilets. Nearest behind the Co op supermarket at the other end of Corfe Mullen. This location is for Upton Heath walk (CP)
