Walk Description:
Power of Poles Intro Course is a 90-minute introduction to get you started with nordic walking poles. It will turn your walk into a workout. You will learn the basic technique of using the poles to improve posture, strengthen your core, work all the major muscle groups, burn more calories than regular walking and get an enhanced cardio workout, all while feeling propelled by the poles and lighter on your feet.After you have completed this introductory session, you will receive the Freedom Passport and you can join any NWUK group walks in the UK.Poles will be provided for you on the day.
This is an outdoor activity and you will need to bring appropriate clothing and footwear for the weather and terrain which can be uneven, stony and muddy.Outdoor trainers or flexible-soled walking shoes are preferable.If wet weather is expected, we advise water resistant/waterproof shoes or a change of socks/shoes. Waterproof jacket and trousers are advisable.In cold weather we recommend several layers that can be removed if required. In extreme cold weather hats and gloves (preferably walking or sports gloves) are desirable.In warm weather we recommend, sun hat, sun cream, insect repellent , long trousers/sleeves to guard against nettles/thorns/insects/ticks. Please bring a water bottle and snacks and a small back pack is useful for carrying them in. Poles are provided for this session.

Free Parking. No toilets or refreshment facilities available Except on Tuesdays 11.00-13.00 when there is a Community Coffee morning. Donations welcomed.
