Walk Description:

Our walk through Epping Forest starts and finishes at Chingford, taking in couple of viewpoints looking west to London and exploring the beautiful ancient woodland.

Key sights

High Beach Epping Forest visitor centre Connaught Water Queen Elizabeth Hunting Lodge

Our longer Explorer WALX are open to all, exploring beautiful areas in and around London. Routes are planned with breaks and the opportunity for refreshments but this isn't just a ramble; we'll encourage the good posture and motivation to push yourself as we do in all our WALX.

If you'd like to benefit from using Nordic walking poles, we advise you attend a Learn to Nordic WALX workshop. Walkers without poles or with trekking poles are very welcome.

Monthly Payment clients £10; Pre-paid Credit clients £16 - price adjusted at payment.

Time: Meet outside Chingford Rail Station (London Overground from Liverpool Street) ready to start at 10.00 am.

This is a circular walk so we will finish at Chingford Station by approximately 3.00 pm.  Chingford is on the London Overground network to Liverpool Street and also links to the Victoria Line at Walthamstow Central. It is in Zone 5 so Oyster/Freedom Passes will be valid.

The 9.18 and 9.33 trains from Liverpool Street arrive in Chingford at 9.45 and 10.00 am respectively, however there are 4 trains per hour if you wish to arrive earlier.

Refreshments  We will have a coffee/lunch break at High Beach (roughly half way) - cafe sells hot and cold refreshments or bring your own snacks.  There is also a pub and a good cafe at the end of the walk at the Queen Elizabeth Hunting Lodge.

Toilets - at Chingford Station, High Beach and Queen Elizabeth Hunting Lodge
