Walk Description:
Come and join us for some festive fun with a Winchester walk including the water meadows, River Itchen and St Catherines Hill and then into the city taking in some literary interest of John Keats and Jane Austen who both spend time here. We finish the 4 mile walk in Cathedral Close where the Christmas Markets are situated.
Our starting point today will be the King Arthur's statue next to the Guildhall.
Walk Details: Walk is around 4 miles. We will walk from the Guildhall past some of the historical buildings towards the River Itchen and then walk along the river till St Catherines Hill where we can climb the hill for a great view of the city. Returning to the city we end at the cathedral for a look around the Christmas markets.
Meeting Time: Walk starts at 11am. Meet at car park by latest 10:30 to have enough time to get to the start.

Parking: You can park in town or if you prefer meet at the South Winchester Park and Ride Car park and take the bus into town.
Park and Ride Bus stop is on the Broadway outside the Guildhall next to St Alfreds Statue.
Parking costs £3.50 and includes the bus ride back to your car for up to 5 people plus driver. So worth sharing lifts. There are toilets at the park and ride. Parking Details
Notes: This walk maybe muddy in places and some road walking.
Refreshments: Plenty of places to grab a bite to eat but bring some water/snacks for a mid walk break.
