Walk Description:

Come and join us for some festive fun with a walk from the South Winchester Park and Ride into Winchester taking us through the village of Compton End and up the wooded path to Compton Down giving fabulous views of Winchester city, the cathedral and beyond. We then take the path along Clarendon Way ending up with a short walk beside the crystal clear chalk river Itchen.

We finish the 4 mile walk in Cathedral Close where the Christmas Markets are situated. Christmas Market at the Cathedral

Plenty of places for you to get lunch or refreshments but you may need to book if you want to go to a pub or restaurant in a large group.  

There you can peruse the markets at your leisure and taste the festive treats before heading back to the South Winchester Park and Ride Car park on the bus - 15 minutes journey.

Park and Ride Bus Stop is on the Broadway outside the Guildhall next to St Alfreds Statue. 

Parking costs £3.50 and includes the bus ride back to your car for up to 5 people plus driver. So worth sharing lifts. There are toilets at the park and ride. Parking Details

This walk maybe muddy in places - there is 1 climb over stile, some horses in a couple of fields and some road walking.
