Walk Description:

This largely circular route starts at The Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre in Craven Arms, picks up and follows the River Onny passing through and past three of the old villages that existed prior to Craven Arms itself. It is an easy, relatively flat, wander by the river on a mixture of paths, meadows and tarmac roads. Plenty of bird life along the way, and views of the Shropshire Hills all around. Plenty of opportunity to practice basic technique without having to worry too much about difficult terrain.

Learn some rather special aviation history along the way.

This is a gears 1 and 2 walk.

The walk has an optional extension for an additional half an hour walking on the Onny Meadows.

Nordic Walx are simply sociable Nordic walks in a mixed ability group, enjoying beautiful locations in and around South Shropshire and beyond. Most routes are circular and will try to make the most of the beautiful surroundings.

Dress to suit the weather, including sunscreen, if necessary, and bring water.

We are adhering to Covid-19 protocols. Please use your own poles and bring your own water.

Please do not book on for for a walk if you think you may have symptoms, or do have symptoms or have been in contact with some one who has symptoms. If you can, please use a Lateral Flow Test beforehand. Thank you for your understanding.

Location Notes:

Meet at the front of the Centre. £2,50 per day for Parking in the Centre car park (to go to the Charity, Grow, Cook, Learn). Free to members of the Discovery Centre. Toilets inside the centre, during opening hours (10 am - 5 pm). Cafe with indoor and outdoor seating.
