Walk Description:

Our Wednesday Explorer WALXs are a chance to join a longer walk. These walks usually take around 3 hours covering 6-8 miles depending on the terrain. They are aimed at walkers who are comfortable with walking at a moderate pace for the time. We will take a few breaks so bring a hot drink and a snack.

Todays walk: Today we are starting at Hackpen Hill and then walking down towards Temple Bottom. We follow road down towards Rockley and then come back via Ridgeway. Walk is around 7 miles.

Route and Gradient: The walk is around 6.5 miles and will take around 2 - 2.5  hours. We are on rough tracks and grassy paths. Maybe overgrown. Some hills.

Notes: No facilites on this walk so please bring water and snacks.

There is a big flood at Eagle Cottage on the Marlborough to Rockley road - it is possible to access from Ogbourne Maizey. Those coming tomorrow please note.

Some of you will be fine as you come from the Swindon side.

So coming from Marlborough head to Swindon and turn left at Ogbourne Maizey follow road right to the Rockley Road and then turn right to reach Ridgeway car park.

Advise to leave a bit more time to access this way.
