Walk Description:
A Midweek Morning walk of approximately 6 miles, allowing us to explore deeper into Cannock Chase and build up our personal distance. We may adjust the distance depending on the weather conditions.
The walk provides an opportunity to build up stamina by being slightly longer than a normal 1-hour walk, with a few hills for good measure.
This month, we will follow Marquis Drive down Jockey (Kitbag) Hill, crossing the A460 and passing behind Maple Hayes pumping station—a short climb towards Beaudesert Golf Club, then taking a track behind the houses at Fallow Park. We then cross back over the A460 and make our way to Walkers Rise, heading up towards the Cannock Chase Enterprise Centre, previously the offices of Cannock Colliery No.5. If time allows, we will stop for quick refreshments at the Chase Cafe. After which we will make our way back towards Marquis Drive visitor centre via the old coal face and the RAF training centre.
Please make sure you have some fluids with you and possibly a snack. We may stop for a coffee if time and location allow, so we will be out for around 2.5 hours.
Remember: Monthly membership gives you unlimited WALX for only £23.00 per month
It is essential to register and book in advance online.
Safety measures.
Our online health questionnaire (PARQ) asks you to update your current health status. If you feel unwell between booking your class and joining us, we ask that you err on the side of caution and cancel your booking. You will be directed to book another date, or a refund can be issued.
You are asked to contact your instructor by phone, leave a voicemail, or send an SMS to the number below if you are likely to be delayed, as we start WALX promptly.
While we understand that sometimes it is not possible to make a WALX, please make every effort to advise the WALX Guide.
We undertake to deliver all WALX with qualified staff and have made every effort to risk assess all routes. On occasions, it is necessary to make dynamic risk assessment decisions when there is a localised incident such as fallen trees on the route, flooding, traffic changes, etc.
Please ensure you have completed the online health questionnaire (PARQ) and notify us in writing if you have any changes to your medical records or physical or mental well-being. This should include any surgery, falls, knocks or accidents. Thank you.
Location Notes:
