Walk Description:
A relaxing and scenic two-hour walk starting from Osmaston’s picturesque, thatched village hall. The route leads across the village green before heading into the beautiful surroundings of Osmaston Park.
As you wander through tranquil woodland, you’ll pass between two ornamental lakes and the old water mill, complete with its impressive wheel — a spot where time feels wonderfully still. This landscape is steeped in history too, as you’ll be walking in the footsteps of Bonnie Prince Charlie, who passed through the area during the 1745 Jacobite uprising on his way towards Derby.
The route continues along a peaceful track descending to a gentle stream, with charming footbridges to cross, before looping back along farm tracks and open countryside. The walk finishes back at the village pond, passing the local sports ground along the way.
A perfect mix of history, nature and easy walking, ideal for a relaxed outing with plenty to take in.
