Walk Description:

Step back in time and into some of Dorset’s most dramatic coastal scenery on this short but rewarding walk.

Starting from the hauntingly beautiful remains of Tyneham Lost Village, we’ll follow a gentle path out towards the sea, arriving at the sweeping shoreline of Worbarrow Bay. 

From the bay, the challenge begins. We’ll take the climb up to Flowers Barrow at a relaxed, steady pace, giving everyone the chance to enjoy the journey as much as the destination. This steep ascent is what makes the walk a real achievment, but it’s absolutely manageable when taken slowly.

At the top, we will rest at the ancient hill fort, taking in the breathtaking views across the Jurassic Coast and rolling countryside.

The return route follows the ridge along Whiteway Hill, offering more views before we descend back into Tyneham Village. Once back, you’re free to explore the village’s war time history, or treat yourself to a well-earned refreshment from the coffee cart.

At this time of year, the surrounding woodlands often put on a beautiful display of bluebells.

This car park is easy to miss - look out for a sign on the road pointing to a gate that leads to a track that drops into the valley. Suggested car park charge of £4Toilets usually available.
