Walk Description:

This is an attractive mixed terrain circular walk, through Halford, up to Berrymill Wood, and back alongside the River Onny. Another walk with great views of the hills all around, and good for flora, (including early spotted orchids in the spring) and fauna too.

My preferred route for this walk is mainly off-road, but one field section can be difficult because the footpath is not well maintained (and is crop-dependent) and some of the stiles likewise. Depending on conditions on the day, we may need to use the lane instead for this section.

Nordic Walx are simply sociable Nordic walks in a mixed ability group, enjoying beautiful locations in and around South Shropshire and beyond. Most routes are circular and will try to make the most of the beautiful countryside around us.

Dress to suit the weather, including sunscreen, if necessary, and bring water.

Please do not book on for for a walk if you think you may have symptoms, or do have symptoms or have been in contact with some one who has symptoms. Thank you for your understanding.

Photos may be taken during the walk for use on the WALX in the Marches website, on social media, and occasionally, shared more widely with WALX/Nordic Walking UK. If you are not happy for your image to be used in any of these ways, please let me know.

Location Notes:

This car park and picnic area is not signposted from the road. It is on the left as you come out of Craven Arms, just beyond the 40 speed limit signs, and before the bridge over the Onny (there are new wooden railings by the entrance). If you are coming into Craven Arms from the Corvedale, the car park will be on your right just past the bridge, and before the 30 speed limit signs. No toilets on site, but close by on Shrewsbury Road, Craven Arms, or at the Discovery Centre.
