Walk Description:
Leaving Verwood on an unmade road we will explore the area on the outskirts of Verwood.
Part of the walk is on Dewlands Common which is an important site for native flora and fauna. In the
past commoners used to graze horses here. We pass under the old Salisbury and District Junction
Railway bridge which closed in 1964. and is one of the last remaining structures from this time.
Continuing along an unmade lane the trail goes up to a high point with views.
Through various bridle ways which cross Crane Valley golf course.
From here a short walk to Margards lane.
The walk is approx 4 miles long, it is an easy walk with one incline. Taking approx 2.5 hours
Nearest toilets are at Morrison's near the roundabout where you turn off onto Springfield Road to
access the right part of Margard's lane. (This roundabout has Harlee's fish and chip shop on it)
Roadside parking opposite Haywards Farm Close just past Verwood C of E 1st school. Margards Lane
becomes unmade at the point where we leave the cars.
Please note this is a sociably paced walk.
