Walk Description:
A beautiful walk from Pamphill. Around 6 miles with the option to return after 3 miles.
A 2.5 hour walk for anyone with or without poles. At the end of the walk we will all meet up and join together for a picnic. Please bring your lunch, something to drink and to sit on.
You will have time to return to the car to collect these things.
This is a chance to meet up with walkers from all over Dorset and find out about other walks and leaders that you might not have met. We’d love as many of you as possible to be there and join in the fun and if you've not been before this is a great opportunity to find out what the club is all about!
Come with me on a walk from Pamphill to the church built for the Bankes family in 1907, along some less travelled paths to Kingston Lacy parklands. There is a short section on a narrow path near the main road.
We will explore this beautiful parkland of magnificent trees and borders. Along the way we pass through the Lime tree avenue and arrive at the top of the Japanese garden for an ariel view before visiting the kitchen gardens. There are glimpses of Kingston Lacy House in the distance. This was the home of the Bankes family and is built in the Italianate style.
After a short road section, our route takes us on ancient paths to Cowgrove, along the river to Eye Bridge and back up to Pamphill. There are 5 stiles and one short hilly section.
(For anyone wanting to join for the Kingston Lacy parklands only, it is easy to simply return along the lane, up a short hill to Pamphill. This is a 3 mile loop.)
There are toilets at the Kitchen gardens and also at Pamphill dairy.
There is a cafe/farmshop/butchers/gift shop and other stores as well.
Location Notes:
Meet in the car park closest to Pamphill First School (opposite end to the main green car park near the church).
