Walk Description:

Starting out at Thurso Harbour we will walk along the promenade, enjoying the views across the bay. Continuing through Thurso town centre we cross the river, looking out for wildlife, walk up through Thurso East and back along the coast past the historic Thurso Castle. At the end of the walk a visit to the Northern Plate cafe is an option for a restorative hot or cold drink, depending on the weather! 

There are varying surfaces along the walk with some well paved footpaths but also uneven, unpaved footpaths towards the end of the route so please wear suitable shoes or boots. 

Please be mindful of weather forecast on the day and bring appropriate clothing. We would also suggest bringing your own water and perhaps a snack. If you bring items please carry them in a backpack that doesn't inhibit your arm movements.

WALX strapless poles will be provided.

Location Notes:

Parking for Thurso Harbour is along the riverside as marked on the map. There are seasonal harbour toilets or, when these are closed, there are facilities at the Tesco supermarket (///stay.mastering.charities). The Northern Plate cafe is a great place for coffee and snacks after your walk.
