Walk Description:

Join us for a rewarding day exploring one of the Peak District's hidden gems, where rugged moorland meets ancient woodland and historic reservoirs. Starting near Overstones, we'll climb gently towards the iconic Stanage Pole, an ancient boundary marker that has watched over these moors for centuries.

From here, the route crosses the wide-open landscapes of Hallam Moor, offering sweeping views across the Peak District and South Yorkshire. We'll then descend to the peaceful Redmires Reservoirs, passing through beautiful mixed woodland before following the picturesque valley to the historic Rivelin Dams.

This delightful stretch combines flowing streams, old mill heritage and tranquil woodland paths, making it one of Sheffield's most loved beauty spots. The return journey climbs steadily back onto the open moors, passing beneath Brown Edge before heading back across our outbound route to complete the circuit.

This Explorer WALX offers a wonderful contrast of landscapes, from expansive moorland and dramatic gritstone scenery to peaceful reservoirs and shaded woodland. Walking at a relaxed, sociable pace, there'll be plenty of opportunities to enjoy the views, discover the area's fascinating history and wildlife, and spend time with great company.
