Walk Description:

Bramble Push-Back – Conservation Afternoon Fancy doing something a little different and giving something back to the landscape we enjoy? Following on from the success of our Balsam Bash, we’re getting the WALX team together again for an autumn afternoon of practical conservation work. This time we’ll be helping to push back encroaching bramble, essentially mimicking the behaviour of wild ponies – although we’ll be using tools rather than teeth! Armed with shears and loppers, we’ll cut back areas of bramble before raking the cuttings together and creating habitat piles. It’s practical, physical and sociable work that will help with the ongoing management of the area and provide valuable habitat for wildlife. No previous experience is needed, and guidance will be provided. Come prepared to get stuck in, enjoy some fresh air and have a few laughs along the way. What we’ll be doing: Cutting back bramble, raking and creating habitat piles Tools: Shears and loppers provided Duration: Afternoon session Cost: Free Who can join: Anyone; children must be supervised. We have 10 sets of shears and loppers, so if you have your own, please bring them along. Please wear sturdy footwear, gardening/work gloves and clothing suitable for practical outdoor work. Come and join the WALX conservation crew – a bit of exercise, great company and a chance to give something back to the places we love.
