Walk Description:

Join us for a fabulous shorter Explorer WALX through the rolling limestone countryside surrounding Brassington and Harboro’ Rocks.

Starting near Brassington, we'll head out into open countryside as we gradually gain height. This is classic Derbyshire limestone country, with dry-stone walls, open fields and wonderful views across the surrounding landscape.

Along the way we'll see evidence of the old mines and workings that once shaped this part of Derbyshire. Old mine shafts, spoil heaps and disturbed ground provide clues to the generations who worked beneath and across these hills, adding a fascinating historical dimension to our walk.

Our route takes us towards the distinctive Harboro’ Rocks, an impressive limestone outcrop rising above the surrounding countryside and providing a dramatic contrast to the gentler farmland around it.

From here we'll continue through this fascinating landscape before making our way back towards Brassington, completing a varied circular route packed with scenery, history and plenty of interest.

At around 6 km, with just over 200 metres of ascent and some uneven limestone terrain, there is still enough climbing and varied ground to make it a rewarding outing.

It's a lovely opportunity to discover another of Derbyshire's quieter corners, uncover some of the stories hidden within the landscape and enjoy a couple of hours exploring together.
