Walk Description:

Our walk starts at Rye House Station and finishes 6 miles further along the New River having passed through Broxbourne.  It is a completely flat route on mainly firm paths with a few sections on grassy footpaths.  We finish quite a distance from Cheshunt Station so will take a local bus from the end of the walk back to Cheshunt Old Pond, from where the staion is a 10 minute walk down the road.

Key sights

Rye House Broxbourne

Our longer Explorer WALX are open to all, exploring beautiful areas in and around London. Routes are planned with breaks and the opportunity for refreshments but this isn't just a ramble; we'll encourage the good posture and motivation to push yourself as we do in all our WALX.

If you'd like to benefit from using Nordic walking poles, we advise you attend a Learn to Nordic WALX workshop. Walkers without poles or with trekking poles are very welcome.

Monthly Payment clients £10; Pre-paid Credit clients £16 - price adjusted at payment.

Time: Meet at Rye House Station ready to start at 10.30 am

Travel

There are regular trains running from London Liverpool Street to Rye House Station (36 mins). The best one to catch would be the 9.38 am arriving in Rye House at 10.14.  You can also pick this train up at Tottenham Hale at 9.51 am

Return from Cheshunt back to London.  The Weaver Line connects with Seven Sisters (Victoria Line) to save going into Liverpool Street

If you wish to travel by car, you could park at Cheshunt Station and take a short train journey to Rye House.  N.B. The station car park - Pay by Phone - is expensive.

There is also a car park at The Laura Trott Leisure Centre (Ringo) which would make for a shorter walk back at the end.

Estimated finish time 1.30 pm

Refreshments

We will have water/drink breaks but no cafes along the route.  There are places for drinks/snack at the end of the walk in Cheshunt.

Toilets -  at Cheshunt Station.
