Walk Description:
Ibsley common is an area of open heathland and woodland. The area is rich in wildlife and is an SSSI.
It is usual to see New Forest ponies, deer and donkeys.
From the carpark a short walk uphill takes us up to the lowland heath. The paths are mainly grassy or
gravel and can be muddy after rain.
There are stunning views in every direction as we circle back within the area of Mockbegger.
At the end of the walk is a viewpoint towards the local lakes which are former gravel
pits and Smoerly House.
Hockey's farmshop and cafe is a short drive for optional refreshments after our walk.
Toilets in their carpark.
(In the Autumn the pannage starts and the Forest has pigs foraging for acorns.)
The walk is about 5 miles.

Ground nesting bird restrictions are in place and dogs need to be on leads.
Location Notes:
Near the cross roads park opposite the white chapel at Mockbegger. The parking area is marked by small posts to keep on the gravel. Nearby is an excellent farm shop called Hockey's which has a cafe and toilets.
