pete gurneyNWUK Instructors come from all walks of life and in this issue the spotlight is on ………..Pete Gurney who is based in the stunning Hardy Country just outside Dorchester and John Challis from Swanage

Pete was one of the first NWK Instructors in the UK which is unsurprising given his long running involvement in the sport of cross country skiing.

A Nordic Skiing National Coach and Team GB Coach, Pete has travelled the world with the teams and is passionate about physical activity and it’s impact on health. He has used Nordic walking extensively as part of his own fitness regime and says “Nordic walking has played an integral part of health and fitness training for me over the years and it’s adaptability means it can be used from the slowest health walks to the ultimate workout for Olympic Nordic Ski athletes. With a background that also includes leisure centre management, Pete is adept at working with all levels and his walks are always sure to motivate and inspire.

john-challis-profile-smile-200x200John Challis is a retired Orthopaedic surgeon who originally became an Instructor more out of curiosity and a desire to understand more about the technique which he first tried many years ago. John enjoys a number of activities from Mountain biking and Paddle boarding to Motor cycling and he firmly believes in the power of physical activity for keeping you mobile and well. He works closely with other Instructors and has a passion for helping people to get the most out of their Nordic walking. He offers a range of walks and classes for all levels around the Isle  of Purbeck –

Check out their walks here  Remember, to book any Pete or Johns regular walks you must be able to Nordic walk and will require a FREEDOM passport (or old FREEDOM card)  – give us a shout on 0333 1234 540 if you need any help.
