This month, Instructor Faye Doorbar shares her favourite walks in the Yorkshire Dales. The stunning beauty of Swaledale in the Northern part of the Yorkshire Dales where Faye and husband David are based make it the perfect venue for a scenic winters walk! “Its perfect for Nordic Walking” says Faye ” so much scope for a variety of route lengths and differing terrain”

Faye has been a Nordic Walking Instructor for two years and leads regular weekly walks but also arranges bespoke Nordic Walking packages if you’re visiting the area. “We have a bank of walks lasting 1 1/2 hours to all day in duration, starting in or near the ancient market town of Richmond or further into the Dales” she explains “plus we sometimes take in part of the spectacular Coast to Coast long distance route too!”

If you fancy visiting the area – here are some of Faye’s favourite routes:-

Richmond and Easby

A beatiful walk around Richmond taking in the local landmarks of Richmond Castle and views of the River Swale to ancient Easby Abbey. Click here for walk details

Reeth Circular

Start from the picturesque Reeth village green and walk into the surrounding
hills.  The variety and splendour of Swaledale is stunning and finishing with afternoon tea in the village is a must! Click here for walk details

Marske Circular

Try a short circular route from the hamlet of Marske with far reaching panoramic
views over the Vale of York and three glorious Dales. Click here for walk details

Or if you fancy an all day outing, how about:-

Reeth to Richmond section of Wainwright’s Coast to Coast Path

An all day Nordic Walk of 11 miles, this is a glorious route, under limestone cliffs,
through wooded banks above the River Swale among a rich and diverse wildlife for more information see the Wainwrights Coast to Coast guide.

So if you have a few days off over the Festive season why not take a winters walk on the wild side in Beautiful swaledale!
