I totally understand why someone would ask that question. It’s a very natural concern when you’re thinking about joining a new group.
The simple answer is no – you don’t need to be fit to join WALX.
People come to us for all sorts of reasons and with very different starting points
Other members are already active and want to maintain their fitness or challenge themselves a little more.
They might enjoy longer walks, have an active holiday planned or simply want to keep themselves strong and fit enough to continue doing the things they love.
Our Total Body Walking and fitness sessions give them the opportunity to work a little harder and continue making progress
.

Some members want to push themselves a bit more for their WALX sessions and combine them alongside other sports and activities.
They may be training towards a particular challenge or want to complement their existing exercise with additional strength, stamina and total-body fitness.
Again, there’s something for them too.
Whatever someone’s starting point or health and fitness goals, there’s one benefit that seems to run through everything we do – the social side.
We spend time with people who enjoy being outdoors and who want to build or maintain their strength, balance, fitness and confidence in a friendly and supportive environment.
And very often, the friendships and sense of belonging become every bit as important as the exercise itself.

Absolutely not.
You don’t need to get fit before you join us.
The important thing is finding the right starting point for you, and that’s something we’re very happy to help you with.
At WALX Derwent & Dales, you’ll find different activities, different levels and plenty of opportunities to progress – all within a friendly, supportive community.
Come as you are. We’ll help you find the right place to start.
