Do I Need to Be Fit to Join WALX?
It’s one of the questions I’m asked most often, and I completely understand why.
Starting something new can feel daunting, especially if you haven’t exercised for a while or you’re worried that everyone else will be fitter than you.
The good news is… No, you do not need to be fit to join WALX.
In fact, many of our members joined because they weren’t feeling as fit or as confident as they wanted to be.
Everyone has their own reason for coming along.
For some, it’s about becoming active again after illness, injury or simply a period of doing less. They want to feel stronger, improve their balance and have more energy for everyday life. Perhaps they want to keep up with the grandchildren, carry the shopping more easily, enjoy gardening again or feel more confident walking on uneven ground.
That’s exactly why our Wellness WALX and shorter walks are so popular. These sessions are gentle, supportive and designed to help you build strength, mobility and confidence at your own pace. You don’t need a high level of fitness to start—just a willingness to take that first step.
Other members are already active but want to maintain their fitness and continue improving. They may be planning a walking holiday, enjoy spending time in the countryside or simply like the challenge of working a little harder. For them, our Total Body Walking fitness sessions provide an enjoyable full-body workout that develops strength, balance, posture and cardiovascular fitness while making the most of being outdoors.
We also have members who use WALX alongside other sports and activities. They enjoy the additional strength and conditioning that Total Body Walking provides, whether they’re training for a challenge, preparing for a charity walk or simply looking for a different way to stay fit.
Although our members have different goals, one thing they all tell me is how much they value the friendships they’ve made.
The social side of WALX is every bit as important as the exercise. Spending time outdoors with welcoming, encouraging people makes it much easier to stay motivated, and many lasting friendships have started on our walks.
At WALX Leamington & Warwick, there’s no pressure to keep up, no competition and no expectation that you’ll already be fit.
Our aim is simply to help you move more, feel stronger, build confidence and enjoy being active in the company of others.
So, if you’ve been wondering whether you’re fit enough to join us, I’d encourage you to come along and give it a try.
You don’t need to be fit to start.
You simply need to start where you are.
