A 45-minute session that will help you understand just how beneficial Nordic walking can be and how it is far more than just walking with poles! You will also feel why it is important to learn the technique properly in order to maximise the benefits as well as having a lot of fun.
Power of Poles 1
Also known as Getting Started with Poles. This session is suitable for all levels and is a structured teaching programme. In this 90min session, you will learn the basics of Nordic walking and gain your Nordic Walking Freedom Passport, opening up over 2500 weekly national Nordic Walking and WALX classes.
Power of Poles 2
Concentrates on mastering the technique of walking with strapped poles. Once you have experienced the difference of walking with poles compared to natural walking there is no turning back. Part 2 is optional and covers gears 3 and 4 adding speed and improving technique. You will experience the joy of walking at faster speeds which will improve your fitness and make you feel mentally and physically better.
Nordic WALX – Wellbeing
A gentle safe way to walk yourself fitter! These walks include exercises that help with flexibility, balance and strength whilst using poles to improve general fitness and increase joint mobility. Suitable for those who want to build up to the longer or more vigorous walks or may have concerns about their health.
Nordic WALX – Adventure
Simply enjoy sociable Nordic walking in stunning locations with a mixed ability group. Lead by accredited instructors or leaders, these walks make the most of our beautiful country and are a relaxing way to enjoy being active outdoors.
Nordic WALX – Workout
For those who have completed the Learn to Nordic walk course or Power of Poles session 1 these action-packed one hour walks are designed to help you to improve your fitness levels and gain FAST results. Your qualified instructor will add motivating drills and exercises into a fast-paced fun walk.
Total Body WALX
These WALX make every step count! Total Body Walking™ is a unique mix of drills, strength exercises, the use of Nordic walking poles and other innovative fitness walking kit to help target the upper body too. Delivered by our fully qualified Instructors who will plan WALX that work on all aspects of fitness and make the most of being outdoors!
From one hour WALX in your local country park to a half day in the hills, our Explorer WALX capture the variety of scenery, themes and types of WALX that suit your lifestyle. If you love WALX to the pub or WALX with the dog or simply WALX in wild locations, we have them all! Whether long, short, tough or gentle we welcome all ages and all levels.
This walk does not require poles or a freedom passport.
Gentle WALX that incorporate balance work, flexibility and strength exercises and maybe a bit of tai chi or relaxation too. Great for those who are getting back into exercise, have a health condition or simply want to move well and be fit for life! Our wellbeing Instructors are qualified to deliver WALX for all levels so it’s never too late to take that first step.
