The Cardiac rehab team managed by Sarah Pearson, Cardiac rehabilitation specialist nurse and clinical lead, operate across the county of Gloucestershire. They offer comprehensive exercise courses for those recovering from a range of cardiovascular disease and help to signpost them into healthy active lifestyles.

Using the WALX total body walking poles, they are able to help people exercise the whole body safely and master a skill that they can continue daily. Total body walking uses the upper and lower body, making it great cardiovascular exercise and the team are able to adopt it to suit all levels.

The poles also provide support for those with weight or lower joint issues so are great for helping people feel comfortable with walking. The strapless ergonomic handles mean the team can easily add  strength and balance exercises too.

The aim is to provide safe, affordable exercise that is easy to replicate and can be delivered anywhere for all levels.

WALX tutors developed a bespoke 6 hour training course for Sarah’s team of rehabilitation specialists at the Oxtalls Campus University of Gloucestershire. The team have 20 sets of TBW poles which they are using in the community based programmes. We look forward to linking the participants with local WALX groups when they finish their rehabilitation programmes.
