Definitely give nordic walking a go
I absolutely love these Nordic walking sessions. The trails are beautiful and it’s such a joy to be out in nature while getting in a full body workout. The guided walks are really well organised by Sue & Den, and the atmosphere is always friendly and welcoming. I’ve met some lovely people along the way, and the shared experience makes the walks even more enjoyable. It’s the perfect combination of fresh air, great company, and time to appreciate nature. If you’re thinking of joining the 6-week program, I’d definitely recommend giving it a try! 🤎

Walking with poles in New Zealand
Dear Sue
Hope you and Den are well.
Every time I used my poles in the last 4 weeks I think that I must drop you a line!
I’m on the flight back now from Sydney. We spent a month in New Zealand with friends and I just feel so grateful to you for teaching me how to use the poles! We didn’t really go on really long walks but I started using them more and more to keep myself upright whilst walking and just feeling confident not to fall.
I did a paraglide too - vid and some pics to follow. I just told them I couldn’t run or jump and 2 hulks propelled me off the cliff. There was a cushioned seat so landing wasn’t an issue either.
I continue walking on the flat to keep fit.
With thanks again
Warm wishes

I’ve enjoyed walking in a group which I think is very motivating.
I have enjoyed being in the outdoors and I’ve enjoyed walking in a group which I think is very motivating. I’ve done Nordic walking before but not for a couple of years so it was good to get back into it again and I’m hoping to keep walking as well.

t’s a different perspective walking with poles
I love walking in nature and do that already but it was good to come here with Sue and Den and learn how to use the poles and it’s a different perspective walking with poles. I’ve really enjoyed it and I will definitely carry on walking.

I was curious about the poles what difference they would make
I enjoy walking and I was curious about the poles what difference they would make. I’ve enjoyed walking with poles and working in a group and walking with Sue and Den and I look forward to joining some local walks soon.

Walking in nature is good for mental health.
It’s been a great opportunity to learn a new sport in a friendly and supportive environment. Often you can be on your own on the journey of learning a new sport. So I’ve really enjoyed it from that perspective and I will keep it up because I love walking and walking in nature is good for mental health.

I can feel more purpose in my walk
I’ve really enjoyed the course as I’m not a motivated walker and it’s felt good to get back into a routine. I can really see a visible difference, I can feel more purpose in my walking because nobody teachers you to walk so I’ve enjoyed it.

The social element is invaluable
During the pandemic I discovered the joy of Nordic Walking and discovered beautiful outdoor spaces on my doorstep. The group leaders are fantastic, friendly and very experienced. The social element is also invaluable and I would recommend any novice to give it a try

Nobody is excluded
What Harrow Striders has done for me is to realise that despite the aging process I can continue to access the great outdoors in good company and feel safe and can continue to explore changing seasonable habitats . It is also the best way for me to achieve a good cardio vascular workout but enjoy being out of doors at the same time. Nobody is excluded, and it is encouraging to join a group. It was a great relief to resume our walks when the Covid regulations allowed . Despite variable weather conditions, it gets me out on a Monday morning, and a good start to the week .The weekly on line updates are a great encouragement to see what the other groups are doing. Thank you for your very professional leadership, patience and good humour .

More Please
I cannot thank you enough for coming into my life!!! The walk today was amazing so beautiful. I love to be pushed and to have a good workout and would like more of this theme please. I had difficulties with the bare pathways as I am no expert on the roads with my poles yet! Otherwise I adored it! More, more please!
