2 Farewells and big Hello!

Things change when groups have been going as long as some of our Nordic walking UK groups have (some are approaching 18 years)

It’s always sad when an Instructor retires or moves away but we understand how things change in life and the network usually steps in to keep everything going. Two  much valued Instructors stepped away from their groups recently but all was not lost for their dedicated walkers – read more………….

Instructor Tracy Reeve (pictured) who has been at the helm of Nordic Walking Watford for years originally took it over from her original Instructor Jane who was moving to Yorkshire. Now having built the group up into one of the largest in the UK she too has chosen to step down ( and will be sorely missed) Not wanting to leave her walkers and leaders without a regular programme, she worked with WALX HQ to find somebody to take over.

And that somebody happens to be …..

Martin Christie – Founder of Nordic Walking UK and owner of WALX HAMPSTEAD. The good news is that Tracy will remain as a walker and leader too.

We wish Tracy all the best and hope the walkers in Watford and Hampstead enjoy more walks and activities as the programme grows.

Meanwhile in the Peak District, Janneke Gorzeman who has also been an Instructor with us for many years, has handed over the reins of her White peak Nordic Walking group to one of her leaders Anne Gunn and her Husband Chris who have recently completed their Total Body Walking Instructor training and are busy adding new activities alongside the regular walks under their new name WALX White Peak.

Janneke will also join in walks in between her travels as she enjoys her retirement with Husband Erwin.

At WALX HQ we just hate to see walkers without an Instructor as we know its hard to stay motivated – so we do everything we can to provide the training and support for existing walkers or leaders to upskill or for complete newcomers to come on board to help keep things going

So, if you live in an area where there is no group and you think you can help – get in touch!

NEW WALX groups are popping up all the time with new ones opening  in the following locations this Autumn…..

  • Ormskirk
  • Calder Valley
  • Mid Devon
  • Salisbury
  • Waveney Valley
  • Newark (Trent and Vale)
  • Monmouth
  • Cheshire
  • Yeovil

We are also delighted to welcome the team at Bristol Nordic Walking into the WALX fold as their team embraces Total Body walking following a training day with WALX poles earlier this month.

If you live near to any of these groups – look them up and give them your support – you will be glad you did!
