Autumn is a time of stunning colours, crunchy leaves and wonderful low sunlight. For many, it is a favourite time to walk as the hedgerows flatten and fields are ploughed.
Our groups host everything from sloe gin walks to autumn colour spectaculars as they enjoy the change in seasons and the photographs they share are wonderful.
However, Autumn also comes with mists, fog and darker evenings so it is a time to think about your safety. Making sure you can be seen by other path users and can see clearly has to be a priority and is easy to do
HIGH VIZ
You do not need to look like a construction worker to stand out when walking these days, most outdoor brands make lightweight and comfortable gilets and jackets with reflective seams and other features. There are also simple to carry pop-over vests which you can put on if you encounter poor visibility when out walking. They take up no space in your pack and are comfy too.
Another great idea is to get a backpack cover like this one – they also keep the rain out so are a perfect accessory during the Autumn storm season!
Other option include reflective tape to go on to your poles and SILVA do a great little SIMI light that clips to clothing or attached to poles.
Stay safe and enjoy the most of being in the outdoors this Autumn
