The latest in our series of WALX expert webinars will be on the 21st November at 7 pm

Our Expert Jason Feavers – a former WALX academy Tutor and exercise referral specialist is a level 4 Cancer exercise Instructor who spent 6 years with Cancer research UK. His role there was working with healthcare professionals to improve the early diagnosis and prevention of cancer.

He set up a cancer exercise pathway in York and still delivers regular exercise sessions for people living with Cancer.

He will be joining Gill from WALX to chat about how important physical activity can be both for prevention and management of Cancer.

In this 40 minute webinar Jason will explain the following

What is Cancer?

  • How exercising regularly can reduce the risk of many common cancers and why.
  • Why is physical activity recommended during and after cancer diagnosis and the increasing role of ‘prehab’
  • The benefits and considerations for exercising during and after a cancer diagnosis
  • What you can still do and what to avoid during cancer treatment

This session will be full of advice that is great for those living with a diagnosis and treatment plus their friends and families.

It will also be a useful guide for professionals/instructors who may be supporting those with Cancer to stay active and manage expectations during treatment.

Walking is one of the best ways to exercise safely and walking in a supportive group with a knowledgeable Instructor can make all the difference.

This session is a great follow up to our Breast cancer support webinar in September which you can listen to via our YOU TUBE channel click HERE
