We are excited to announce the opening of the first WALX store where our experts are on hand to provide advice and support.

“Following the granting of a patent for the unique ergonomic walking poles designed by our team in Dorset, we have seen an increase in requests for one to one advice and the chance to try out the poles. Although we spend a lot of time giving advice both by telephone and in person via our groups, it was clear people like to try out the poles. We needed a showroom in a high street position, rather than our retail unit which was previously in a stunning but isolated position. ” says Mike Rollason WALX MD

“Now, we can welcome visitors to the WALX store in Wareham Dorset and discuss their goals with them before advising on the right poles, adjusting them for size and allowing people to test them too. We are delighted that in the first two weeks we have helped visitors find poles to help them prepare for expeditions, train for long distance events and take up total body walking for fitness. We also offer 15 minute pre booked consultations for those with medical issues from hip and knee pain to balance conditions and more. Our experts spend time understanding any limitations, what people want to gain from poles and help them to adjust both the poles and their movement to ensure they get results. Many have never used two poles but do not feel ready to try them without guidance or to join a group without this prior advice.

Where possible, we signpost people to their local walking group for safe regular exercise too and are delighted to have seen a great uptake. The concept has been so popular that we appreciate our location in Dorset is quite a trek for many, so we plan to have similar smaller advice hubs elsewhere in the UK too.

The store is also full of accessories like rubber ‘paws’ pole straps, gloves, backpacks and socks. A great HUB for the local WALX group and walkers who visit the area, the store is open 6 days a week and appointments can be booked by calling 0333 1234 540.
