Gone WALX about………….

Our sociable groups know how to combine fitness with fun and we never cease to be amazed at the things they get up to! Here is just a snapshot (Thanks to these groups for sharing on the Making Walking Facebook group) Hop on to the group for daily posts and inspiration.

Nordic Walking Tameside finally managed to get away on their ‘covid delayed’ trip to Guernsey – much ice cream was spotted in the photos but they clearly went out walking sometimes too!

It’s great to see the groups exploring further afield again and often meeting up with others too

This group from WALX Salcey and beyond (based in Northamptonshire) raised £365 for Alzheimers UK when they got together to enjoy a lovely Memory Walk. Based in the stunning Salcey Forest, Instructor Faith Jones was one of the first people to join one of our Nordic walking groups way back in 2011 when our HQ was based nearby. So glad she has now taken up the mantle and leading walks there herself!

The WALX Preston ‘fettlers’ (it’s a long story!) completed the Kielder 10 k and as usual had a lot of fun whilst cutting a dash in their lime and purple!  Impressive stuff as many of them had also recently completed the Purbeck 16 miler hike as part of the WALX festival!

There was an important event for the Nordic Walking Watford group as their inspirational Instructor Tracy Reeve put on a weekend of walks to celebrate the 10th anniversary of this sociable group – we heard craft beers were involved!

They have also recently held a walk for the Papyrus young suicide charity plus a Macmillan coffee morning and they have a packed Autumn schedule planned for the coming months.

Way up north in the Scottish Highlands new WALX Master Leila Bentley was out and about at a local craft fair spreading the word about her new group which provides a range of WALX in the stunning mountains, Nordic walking tuition and weekly total body workouts in the local parks around Dingwall too

Leila was one of many new WALX launches this Summer and she welcomes visitors to the area so get in touch if you are heading for the highlands.

Check out our search for new groups near you including WALX Sherwood another one of our FOREST sites

Meanwhile the All Seasons Nordic walking group in south Gloucestershire were out on a foraging walk – we are not sure if this haul was made into crumbles, chutney or pies?

We notice that a lot of walks seem to be food themed and have been told to look out for a raft of Pumpkin walks this Autumn plus, staying on the apple theme,…. some Cider wassailing walks as well!

Finally, it was great to see so many faces at our annual Purbeck WALX festival  in Dorset this year – so many walks, workshops, a distance hike and suppers to enjoy in a really friendly festival  atmosphere too. Next year we will have three events to choose from

Join us in MAY 5 – 7th for the PEAK DISTRICT WALX FESTIVAL

In September there will be a week of walking in Purbeck with a challenge Hike and party night on the 11th – 16th whilst the LAKE DISTRICT WALX FESTIVAL in ULLSWATER  on 22nd – 24th will be a mix of mountain walks, workshops and lowland fell experiences

The WALX HQ Team will be at all of these events and we would LOVE to see YOU there too.
