It’s been a rainy Autumn which is good news for nature as the Rivers swell again but it does bring back something us walkers have not experienced for a few months… MUD
The waterproofs have been well and truly aired and the ritual of boot cleaning is back but nothing stops our groups from getting their fix of fresh air, exercise and good company. Not even the prospect of ghosts and ghouls on Halloween. In fact some groups positively embraced the season, like WALX Dorset who dressed up for their walk followed by a meal in a pub rumoured to be the most haunted in the county!
Other groups were more sedate in their Autumnal themes with plenty of Autumn leaf kicking, Fungi walks and Sloe picking excursions spotted on the calendar.
We were actually fortunate enough to have a dazzling dry day for our Wyre Forest Discovery event where we delivered several Power of Poles Nordic walking sessions, Advanced technique workshops, Smovey, yoga and nature connection walks plus some stunning history and Autumn colour explorers too. We showcased the new WALX poles and had a great day catching up with walkers old and new!
Like many of our groups, this crowd from Milton Keynes Nordic walking joined their local Park walk despite the rain at the start.Luckily it looks as if the sun shone by the end though (see main header picture)
Some groups are also joining Joe Wicks for his Walk with Joe events as part of children in need whilst others like WALX Wessex have planned specific walks for Children in need on the 18th of November
Meanwhile, it’s not all nature and walking, groups have been embracing crafts and the arts too, WALX Ridgeway took their group to London for a walk around the Royal Parks plus a meal and a trip to the Royal Opera House
Catch up with us next month to see how festive walks, suppers and workshops can help to fill those gloomy December Days!
